Construction on Ruby Red Hospitality's Embassy Suites by Hilton in Brownsville was expected to begin in January 2026, MySA reported on September 28, 2025. The hotel is one of four major hotel brands that have recently opened or are on the way in the Rio Grande Valley's largest and oldest city.
The hotel and conference center is planned for 3301 Pablo Kisel Boulevard, in one of Brownsville's busiest shopping corridors, near Sunrise Mall. Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filings cited by MySA describe a seven-story building, and the hotel's website lists 170 two-room suites and more than 12,000 square feet of meeting and conference space, along with complimentary breakfast and drinks. MySA put the project at $10 million.
The Embassy Suites will be Ruby Red Hospitality's first investment in Brownsville. Former Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez pointed to the company's record with projects such as the Courtyard by Marriott on South Padre Island and the Embassy Suites conference center in McAllen.
MySA also described a wider wave of hotel development in Brownsville, including an Everhome Suites, a TownePlace Suites by Marriott and a planned Hyatt Studios, and city hotel tax revenue that rose from $1.7 million in fiscal year 2023 to nearly $2 million.
